AQC Challenge
The AQC (Australasian Quilt Challenge) is featured each year at the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne, organised by the y Expertise Events. The challenge has a theme and quilts must be 90 cm square. The submissions I have made are shown below.

Mad Ten
Theme – 10th Anniversary
Piece featured the number 10 in different languages and scripts. I designed the background fabric and had it custom printed at Spoonflower. Numbers were stencilled over it. Centre symbolises the famous windows of the Royal Exhibition building where the event is held

Chernobyl
Theme – Going Green
When built, Chernobyl nuclear power station was seen as a ‘green’ solution to traditional polluting power generators. However, the catastrophic explosion in 1986 changed all this. Many died and many more developed cancers. The burnt out facility is now encased in a huge shiny sarcophagus and surrounded by an uninhabited 4,000 km2 exclusion zone which is ‘going green’. The area is reverting to forest and the company town of Pripyat, with its amusement park, has become a decaying, overgrown ghost town. Green energy is but a distant memory.
